When on location conditions are not always optimal. For this shoot with the amazing Jennifer Roberts we where faced with a low ceiling, huge floor to ceiling windows and a narrow room. Because Jennifer is like 5’10″ and I wanted to upshoot her to create a bit of drama and a feeling of sitting in the audience, her head rose above the backdrop. Thanks to a three light setup and CS5 with it’s new masking tools we were able to still get an accurate mask against the ceiling tiles though.
After Jennifer was masked I added a curtain background. The stage lights were a simple gradient fill that I applied a cloud render and gaussian blur to. The rest is just a bit of burning and dodging to create realism based on light direction and color.
